"But this means each person contributed 25-1=24...right?"...it´s wrong. If first each friend contributes with 25$ and there is a discount of 5$, one friend contribute 24$, and 2 friends contribute 23$ (23+23+24=70). If 5$ are returned and 2$are given to the waiter, one friend contributes with 25$ and the other two with 24$ (25+24+24=73, plus the tip, 75). The mistake is to tink that the 3 friends contribute equally

The "cheat" it's on the second way to do the sum.
ReplyDeleteThey have spend $24 each. T That includes the Tip.
The dinner ammount it's $70 ($75 - $5 disscount). Plus $2 of the tip = $72
